Controversy[edit]
The Indian censor boards have objected to the sex scenes airing as part of the trailer and music video on TV channels, therefore the producers of the film have obliged and decided to edit certain portions.[22][23]

Soundtrack[edit]
One song from Madhuri Dixit-Vinod Khanna starrer 1988 film Dayavan Aaj Tum Pe Pyaar Aaya Hai was re-created in the film.[
It seems the makers of 'Hate Story 2' are not taking any risks. Keeping in mind the objections raised by the Censor Board, two trailers of the thriller have been released- one with bold content and another without it.

Since Hate Story 2 has sexually explicit content in the movie, the filmmakers made two trailers. One of them, which was approved by the Censor Board, was launched recently. The other one, which has bold and steamy scenes, is reportedly made for video-sharing websites like YouTube.

A Mid-Day report says that since the Censor Board did not allow some scenes from the first trailer to be aired on TV, filmmakers had no option but to tone down content in its second trailer. The report adds that objections were raised against some lovemaking scenes in the trailer. Filmmakers were also asked to recreate the song, Aaj Tum Pe Jo Pyar Aaya Hai, from the 1988 film, Dayavan which has now been sung by Arijit Singh.
